Erin Ortega and Jamie Molacek scored the goals for Saugus. Now it’s off to Fresno to face Buchanan High in the Division I Regional Soccer Championships on Tuesday.

The playoffs didn’t have such a happy ending for Vasquez High in Acton. The Vasquez girls lost to Alverno High, 3-1, in the Division VII championship. But Vasquez earned a berth in the Division III Regionals, against The Bishop’s School from San Diego.

In college hockey, the College of the Canyons ended up in 14th place in the American Collegiate Hockey Association national tournament in Rochester, N.Y. After winning its first game, COC lost its next three. The final blow came on Saturday night, a 9-7 loss to Georgia Tech.

The Valencia Flyers ice hockey team was eliminated from the Western States Hockey League playoffs after losing to the Phoenix Polar Bears, 7-1, in the final game of their best-of-three series.

In college basketball, the College of the Canyons women’s team was no match for undefeated Ventura College in the California Community College Southern California Regional Final. COC lost to Ventura 77-51.

In high school softball, the annual Hart Classic Softball Tournament started in Central Park on Saturday. Hart, West Ranch, Canyon and Golden Valley all saw action in the tournament. Hart and West Ranch won their first two games. Canyon won one and lost one. Golden Valley lost both its game. The tournament resumes on Saturday in Central Park.
