The Foothill League season in girls volleyball opened last night with Saugus, Hart and West Ranch posting victories.
The Saugus girls swept Golden Valley in three games. Sarah Blomgren had a team-high eight kills for Saugus. She also recorded three blocks. Teammate Ashley Guthrie had 20 assists.

Golden Valley’s Megan Badovanick had a team-high five kills.
The West Ranch girls beat Valencia in four games. Allison Summers had 21 kills in her team’s win over the reigning Foothill League champions.
Hart got seven kills and five blocks from Breena Beckett in a three-game sweep over Canyon.
In high school golf, Amanda Corr led Hart to another Foothill League match victory. She shot an even-par 37 at Woodley Lakes Golf Course to lead her team to a 25-shot win over Saugus.
In college soccer, The Master’s College’s Joel Peluffo added to his team-leading total in goals in a 4-0 win over Hope International. Peluffo scored one of three goals in the first half as The Master’s College won its fourth game in a row and remained undefeated at 4-0 in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
Peluffo earned Golden State Athletic Conference honors for the second week in a row. He recorded two hat tricks in consecutive games. The first came two weeks ago in a 5-0 win over Pt. Loma Nazarene. He followed with another hat trick in a 4-2 win over Fresno Pacific. The Hart High graduate has scored 11 goals and has 23 points.
In college volleyball, The Master’s College women’s team lost to Westmont in three games. It was the seventh-straight loss for The Master’s College.
