The pitching dual between the Dodgers’ Chad Billingsley and the Cardinals’ Chris Carpenter was phemonenal. Billingsley through eight innings recorded 11 strikeouts, allowed 2 hits, and no runs. Carpenter through seven innings recorded 6 strikeouts, allowed 5 hits, and no runs. The Cardinals scored first in the Top of the 9th and took the first lead of the game 1-0. In the Bottom of the 9th Andre Ethier doubled to right-field, and then Matt Kemp, currently the best hitter in the Major Leagues, hit a deep shot to dead center-field and won the game for the Dodgers with a walk-off 2-run homerun.
