April 17: Kings Tie The Series With The Canucks At 1 Game Each

For the second time in as many games, the first round of the Stanley Cup Play-Off’s is won in overtime. Except this time it was the Kings coming out on top.

The Kings are heading home tied with the Canucks at one game each. Steve Bernier got the Canucks their first goal at 7:33 in the first period. Just minutes later at 9:49, Mikael Samualsson gave Vancouver a 2-0 lead, which is how the first period ended. At 10:58 in the second period, Fredrik Modin got the Kings on the board to make it a 2-1 game. With the momentum on the Kings side, Wayne Simmonds tied the game at 8:27. No scoring in the third period led to Over-Time. At 7:28 in OT, Anze Kopitar gave the Kings the win, to tie the series at one game each.

The next two games in the play-off series will be played at the Staples Center in LA. Catch all of the action of Game three Monday evening, pre-game show begins at 6:30 with the game beginning at 7:00 on AM1220 KHTS, your Hometown Station.
