In the most innings played in a single game this season, the Dodgers break the tie in the 13th inning to beat the Nationals 4-3.
With a sparse crowd at Nationals Stadium, The Dodgers and The Nationals put on an extra inning display of wills. For Dodger fans, a major high-light came in the top of the second inning when James Loney hit his 500th career hit. It was made even sweeter when Casey Blake drove him home, breaking what had been a one-all tie. But the back and forth continued through the bottom of the eigth inning when Nyjer Morgan drove in Adam Kennedy to tie the score at three. With no scoring by either team in the ninth, the game went in to extra innings. Finally, in the top of the 13th inning, Rafael Furcal scored on a long single by Russell Martin, giving The Dodgers the 4-3 lead. The Dodgers defense held off the Nationals in the bottom of the inning to win the 4 hour and 20 minute game 4-3.
