Monday, the Kings and Sharks met at Staples for game six of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The game was scoreless heading into the second period when San Jose knocked in the first game goal at 2:58 to make it 1 to 0. Justin Williams answered back for the Kings at 13:27 into the period to tie things up 1-1. But, the Shark scored at 16:52 and it was 2 to 1 San Jose at the end of the Second. Ryan Smyth knocked the puck in for the Kings 18 seconds into the third and the game was tied 2-2. San Jose answered back making it 3-2 at 8:48. Trevor Lewis scored for the Kings at 11:39 to once again tie things up 3-3 and forcing overtime play. The Sharks scored in overtime to secure the series win. 4 to 3 was the final and the San Jose Sharks advance – eliminating the Kings from Stanley Cup contention.
