Can Saugus stars repeat at State Championships?

Santa Clarita’s stake in championship golf was cut short as Saugus’s Nick Delio and Hart’s Johnny MacArthur were eliminated Thursday from the CIF Southern California Golf Championships.

MacArthur shot a 3-under 69 at the SCGA Course in Murietta, which put him in a playoff with six others for the final two spots.  A bogey on the first playoff hole, though, eliminated him.  Delio shot an even-par 72 to end his season and his high school career.  MacArthur will be back for one more year.

Today it’s the State Track & Field championships in Sacramento, and Saugus’s Shannon Murakami, Katie Dunn and Heather Snyder, along with Canyon’s Trevor Habberstad, will all be competing.

Tomorrow night, at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine, the Valencia Vikings will take on the Hart Indians for the CIF Southern Section Division 1 softball championship.  Game time is 6:00.

Darin Erstad has been placed on the Chicago White Sox DL.  With that, former Hart and The Master’s College player Jerry Owens has been called up from triple-A Charlotte.  Jerry will join the White Sox in Toronto today.

The Angels lost last night to Baltimore 6-2

And the Dodgers lost 11-4 to the Washington Nationals and fall to a virtual 3-way tie with Arizona and San Diego in the NL West.

Dodgers will now be in Pittsburgh to begin a three-game series with the Pirates starting with the pre-game this afternoon at 3:30 right here on your hometown station.
