SCV Magic Girls Soccer Team Reaches Quarterfinals Of Western Regional In Salt Lake City

khts_sportsThe Santa Clarita Valley Magic girls U16 team reached the quarterfinals of the Western Regional championship in Salt Lake City after going 3-0 and winning their pool.

But the Magic lost, 2-1, to the Highline Premier FC Eagles, the top-ranked team from the state of Washington, in the quarterfinals.

Ally Perez scored the lone goal for the Magic against the Eagles.

The Magic recorded three shutouts in pool play. Brenna Savoie scored for the Magic in a 1-0 shutout against the Alaska CSC Cyclones in pool play. Kaila Sargema notched the lone goal in a 1-0 win over the Los Gatos ThunderCats, the Cal North champions.

The Magic opened the tournament with a 3-0 win over the Utah Heet FC.

Next up for the Magic is the Slammers Futbol Summer Classic in Orange County in July.

The Dodgers have a little three-game winning streak after beating the Tigers, 6-1. Andre Ethier hit a two-run home run and Aaron Miles was 2-for-3 and scored two runs for the Dodgers.

In other games, the Rockies beat the Indians, 4-3, the Padres beat the Red Sox, 5-4, the Diamondbacks beat the Royals, 7-2, and the Giants lost to the Twins, 9-2.

The Angels lost to the woeful Marlins, 5-2, even though Torii Hunter had four hits, including an RBI single in the ninth inning.

The Marlins snapped an 11-game losing streak and won for only the second time in June.

The Mariners lost to the Nationals, 6-5, the A’s beat the Mets, 7-3, and the Rangers beat the Astros, 5-4.

The Orioles beat the Pirates, 9-3, the Braves beat the Blue Jays, 5-1, the White Sox slipped past the Cubs, 3-2, the Brewers beat the Rays, 5-1 and the Phillies knocked around the Cardinals, 10-2, in the only National League game of the night.
