Teams Await Baseball And Softball Playoff Pairings

 

The Hart baseball team didn’t do itself any favors in Friday’s Foothill League finale against West Ranch. Hart blew a 9-0 lead, lost 11-9, and might be sitting out the CIF-Southern Section playoffs this year. Hart finished in fourth place in league. Only the top three teams in league earn automatic playoff berths.

Valencia wrapped up the league championship on Wednesday leaving the Vikings with little to play for in its league finale. They lost to Saugus, 14-10. Golden Valley ended its best league run in school history with a 7-3 win over Canyon.

The playoff pairings for the CIF Southern Section baseball and softball playoffs will be released later on today. Playoffs start on Tuesday.

In high school volleyball, four teams from the Foothill League were in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division II playoffs. Only one will continue to the second round.

Valencia swept a scrappy Simi Valley team and will play El Modena in the second round on Tuesday night. El Modena is the Century League champion and beat Arcadia in the first round of playoffs.

Hart was swept by Westlake and Saugus lost to Saddleback in four games in the first round. Canyon lost to Brentwood in four games.
