The Master’s College Baseball Team Sweeps Doubleheader

khts_sportsThe Master’s College baseball team swept a doubleheader against San Diego Christian College. The Mustangs won the first game, 7-4, and the second game, 4-2.

The Master’s College scored four runs in the eighth inning of the first game to rally against San Diego Christian.

JT Adams and Tanner Leighton each homered in the second game. Adams hit a solo shot in the second inning and Leighton added a two-run homer to give The Master’s College a 3-0 lead.

The College of the Canyon baseball team lost to Orange Coast College, 7-3. Jeremy Weber continued to swing a hot bat for COC. He went 2-for-4 with a home run. Kasey Toven was 1-for-3 and drove in a run for COC.

Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Phoenix International Raceway last night.

It was the season opener for the K&N Pro Series West. It was also the third win in the past four races for Pursley.

He led the last 30 laps of the 100-lap race and finished ahead of Jonathon Gomez, the runner-up in the race. Derek Thorn was third.

The next West Series race is at All-American Speedway in Roseville on April 16.

The Hart boys soccer team is the last team from the Foothill League standing in the CIF Southern Section Division 3 playoffs.

The Indians are in the quarterfinals and at home to face Fontana today. Fontana beat Katella, 2-1 in overtime, in the second round of the playoffs.

Hart beat University, 1-0 in overtime, to reach the quarterfinals of the playoffs.

The College of the Canyon’s women’s basketball team begins play in the California Community College Athletic Association Southern California Regional playoffs tonight.

COC, the seventh-seeded team in the playoffs, will play No. 10 Mt. San Jacinto College at College of the Canyons.

The USC men’s basketball team upset No. 10 Arizona, 65-57, behind 25 points from Nikola Vucevic. It was Arizona’s fourth loss in five games at the Galen Center.

The UCLA men’s basketball team beat Arizona State, 71-53. Lazeric Jones scored 10 points and had 10 assists. He led five Bruins in double figures against Arizona State.

The Lakers will look to win its third game in a row against the Clippers tonight at Staples Center. The Lakers are coming off a 106-101 overtime win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

The new-look Clippers start the post Baron Davis era and will try to snap a two-game losing streak. Davis was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers yesterday for Mo Williams and Jamario Moon. Both Williams and Moon are expected to be in the Clippers lineup tonight against the Lakers.

The Kings returned to LA on a winning note. They beat the visiting Minnesota Wild, 4-2, behind two goals from Wayne Simmonds.

Drew Doughty gave the Kings a 3-2 lead in the third period. Anze Kopitar added an empty netter at the end of the game.

The Kings continue their six-game homestand against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday. Listen to the game tomorrow on AM 1220, KHTS. The puck drops at 1.
