The Master’s College Baseball Team Wins In 11th

Blackwell caps comeback with solo home run in extra innings.

The Master’s College baseball team was in danger of losing its conference lead to Fresno Pacific on Wednesday, but Eric Blackwell won the game, 6-5, with a home run in the 11th inning. The Master’s College had to rally from three runs down to put the game into extra innings. It was Blackwell’s second homer of the game. He also hit a three-run shot in the sixth inning. The Master’s College has a half-game lead over Fresno Pacific in the Golden State Athletic Conference standings.

In high school volleyball, the Golden Valley boys swept Knight High School in three games. Brothers Cody and Mike Hounanian led the offense for Golden Valley. Cody had 24 assists and Mike had 10 kills.
The Saugus boys lost in three games to Simi Valley.

In high school softball, Canyon lost to Westlake, 6-0.

In pro golf, the second day of the AT&T Champions Classic pro-am begins this morning at Valencia Country Club. Denis Watson, who won last year’s AT&T Champions Classic, will tee off in the pro-am at noon today. For you early birds, Eduardo Romero started his round in the pro-am at 8 this morning. Loren Roberts, who was part of the three-way playoff to decide last year’s winner at Valencia Country Club, tees off at 12:20 this afternoon.

The first round of the Champions tournament begins Friday morning at 10.
