The Master’s College men’s basketball team will look to snap a little two-game losing streak against California Baptist tonight. After The Master’s College won the first three games of Golden State Athletic Conference play, the team has dropped its past two games.
The Master’s College women’s team is on a two-game winning streak, including an 85-76 win over Westmont, the No. 14 team in the NAIA. The women’s team will play California Baptist.
The Master’s College’s senior forward Jenna Reed was chosen as the Golden State Athletic Conference player of the week. She scored a career-high 25 points in the game against Westmont. She had 18 points and eight assists in a win against Concordia earlier in the week.
In youth soccer, the Saugus Strikers have been selected to play in the AYSO National Games. The Strikers will travel to Florida in July to play in the weeklong tournament.
The Clippers got a double dose of bad news. First, their first-round draft pick, Blake Griffin, will miss the entire NBA season. The top pick in last year’s NBA draft will undergo season-ending knee surgery.
It didn’t get much better later in the day as the Clippers lost to the New Orleans Hornets, 108-94. Baron Davis scored a team-high 19 points for the Clippers.
The injury-riddled Lakers got a much-needed win over the Dallas Mavericks, 100-95. Three Lakers recorded double-doubles with Andrew Bynum leading the way with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Kobe Bryant, nursing a sore lower back, scored 10 points and played 35 minutes.
In hockey, the Kings host the Anaheim Ducks tonight at Staples Center. The Kings have lost three games in a row. The Ducks are coming off a 4-3 win over the Boston Bruins. Pregame starts at 7 on AM 1220, KHTS.
