The Master’s College Men’s Soccer Team Shuts Out San Diego Christian

The Master’s College men’s soccer team shut out San Diego Christian, 2-0, in the first round of the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament.

Brett Croft scored two second-half goals on penalty kicks. His first came in the 65th minute. His second came in the final minute of the game.

Valencia High graduate Kyle Cunningham made seven saves in goal for the shutout.

The Mustangs play Concordia, the Golden State Athletic Conference regular season champion, in the semifinals of the tournament on Saturday in Irvine.

In women’s soccer, three players from The Master’s College were selected to the All Golden State Athletic Conference team.

Hart High graduate Katie Farris, Jasmine Benson and Natasha Coyle earned spots on the all-conference team.

Farris, a freshman defender, has three goals and two assists. Coyle has scored 11 goals and Benson has 10 goals.

The Master’s College women play Concordia in the semifinals of the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament on Friday.

In high school tennis, the West Ranch girls won their wild-card match, 10-8, against Crescenta Valley in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs.

Wildcats No. 1 singles player Quinterra Walter-Eze won her sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.

West Ranch plays Beverly Hills in a first-round playoff match today.

The Saugus girls lost their wild-card match, 17-1, to Santa Monica in the Southern Section Division 2 playoffs.

The Saugus doubles team of Caren Rosen and Rachel Callas won the only set for Saugus, 6-4.

In the NBA, the Clippers lost to the Orlando Magic, 98-90, in the first of a three-game road trip.

Blake Griffin had 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Clippers. Chris Paul had 18 points and 10 assists.

The Clippers are in Miami for a game against the Heat tonight.
