The Master’s College Soccer Team Upsets No. 4 Mt. Vernon Nazarene

news_sportsThe Master’s College men’s soccer team started its season by upsetting Mt. Vernon Nazarene, the No. 4 team in the NAIA preseason poll.

Marcelo Silva scored the lone goal in the game in the 41st minute to give The Master’s College a 1-0 win. Jader Santos assisted on the goal. Kevin Lawson faced only two shots on goal to record the shutout.

Next up for The Master’s College men’s soccer team is Westminster College from Utah at Reese Field on Friday.

In college volleyball, The Master’s College women beat visiting Mt. Vernon Nazarene in five games. Sarah Oskam had a team-high 19 kills for The Master’s College. Caitlyn Ramirez had 14 kills and Stephanie McBride has 12 kills. The Master’s College improved to 3-2 on the season.

The Master’s College women travel to San Diego to play Colorado Christian on Friday.
