The Master’s College women’s volleyball team won its first match in pool play at the NAIA national tournament in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Lady Mustangs beat MidAmerica Nazarene, 3-2, winning the fifth game, 15-9.

Sam Dougherty led The Master’s College with 25 kills and 13 digs. Ashley Newton had 14 kills and 10 digs.
The Lady Mustangs, ranked No. 16 in the NAIA, play Madonna University in the second day of pool play today. Madonna won its first pool play match over Rocky Mountain College.

In high school basketball, the Valencia boys beat Sun Valley, 101-30, in the Simi Valley Tournament. Dakota Abbott scored 16 points and led six Vikings in double figures.
In high school tennis, the Valencia doubles team of Tina Inchalik and Remy Balmain won their CIF individual playoff match and reached the round of 16.
Inchalik and Balmain won their match, 6-2, 6-7, 6-1, over Kendall Towne and Sara Kamine of South Torrance.
The Valencia doubles team is in the round of 16 of the CIF individual playoffs. Their next match is today in Seal Beach.
Los Angeles Sports Report
In college football, UCLA coach Jim Mora signed a six-year extension with the Bruins, the school reported Tuesday.
The extension will run to the 2019 season. It comes a day after USC hired Steve Sarkisian as the new coach of its football team. Sarkisian was at the University of Washington and a long-time assistant under Pete Carroll at USC.
In the NHL, the Kings beat the Anaheim Ducks, 3-2, in a shootout. Dwight King scored the game-winner in the ninth round of the shootout.
Next up for the Kings are the New York Islanders at Staples Center on Saturday.
