The Master’s College Women’s Basketball Team Loses to Westmont

The Master’s College women’s basketball team lost to Westmont, 77-66, in a match-up of two teams in the top 10 in the NAIA.

Jacquelyn Marshall scored 17 points and led three Lady Mustangs in double figures in scoring.

The Master’s College women, ranked No. 10 in the NAIA, have lost two games in a row and dropped to 22-4.

Westmont, the No. 8 team in the NAIA, is undefeated in the Golden State Athletic Conference at 11-0.

The Master’s College men’s basketball team lost to Westmont, 63-54. Derrick Fain scored 11 points to lead the Mustangs. Westmont is ranked No. 6 in the NAIA.

In college baseball, the College of the Canyons lost to Orange Coast College, 8-3. Alex Bishop, Kevin Lenick and Corey Sims each drove in a run for COC, which dropped to 3-4.

In college golf, the Pac-12 women’s championship will be at Valencia Country Club in April. Valencia Country Club has hosted the Nissan Open and was a regular stop on the PGA Championships Tour until 2009.

The Pac-12 women’s golf championship is from April 22-24.

In high school soccer, the Hart boys open the CIF Southern Section Division 4 playoffs in the wild-card round against Workman High from Industry today.

Hart is the third-place team in the Foothill League. Workman is 10-7-3 and the fourth-place team from the Montview League. The game is at Hart. Kickoff is at 3:15.

Beverly Hills awaits the winner on Friday.

In the NBA, the Lakers beat the Phoenix Suns, 91-85. Five Lakers scored in double figures, but Kobe Bryant scored only four. He had nine assists and five rebounds.

Dwight Howard scored 19 points and had 18 rebounds. The Lakers have won eight of their past 11 games.

They play the Clippers at Staples Center on Thursday night.
