The Master’s College women’s basketball team is headed to the NAIA Division I tournament in Kentucky and will face Bethel of Tennessee in the first round.
The NAIA national tournament begins on Wednesday. The Master’s College women are ranked No. 7 in the NAIA and have a 24-8 overall record.
Bethel is 21-10 and plays in the Southern States Athletic Conference.
The Master’s College women are making their ninth appearance in the NAIA tournament. Last year, they lost in the first round of the NAIA tournament to Carroll of Montana.

In college baseball, the College of the Canyons beat West LA College, 10-4, and won its fifth game in a row.
Dylan Freyre hit a grand slam in the fifth inning for COC. The Cougars are 5-0 in Western State Conference play.
In college softball, the College of the Canyons lost to Citrus College, 9-1. COC is 6-8 overall and 3-1 in the Western State Conference.
Santa Clarita High School Sports
In high school softball, Saugus shut out Yucaipa, 1-0, in the Tournament of Champions in Arizona. Mariah Lopez tossed a one-hitter and struck out 13.
In high school golf, the West Ranch boys beat Ventura by 14 strokes, 404-418, in a match at the Robinson Ranch mountain course. Joon Shon shot a 77 to lead West Ranch.
In football, Isaac Sopoaga, who played at College of the Canyons, was released by the New England Patriots.
The defensive tackle played in six games and started twice for the Patriots in 2014.

In the NBA, the Lakers lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder, 131-102. The Lakers beat the Thunder four days ago.
The Lakers have lost three of their past four games. They play the San Antonio Spurs tonight.
In the NHL, the Kings lost to the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs, 3-2, and had their eight-game winning streak snapped.
The Kings had a 2-0 lead in the first period, but the Maple Leafs scored three unanswered goals to win the game.
Next up for the Kings are the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.
