The Master’s College women’s soccer team scored two second-half goals and beat Point Loma Nazarene, 2-1, in a match-up of NAIA top-25 teams.
Bobbie Roberts had a goal and an assist for the 14th ranked Mustangs, winners of five straight games. Her goal in the 78th minute was the game-winner in the Golden State Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Robyn Estrada scored in the 77th minute to tie the game against Point Loma Nazarene, the 23rd ranked team in the NAIA.
In high school volleyball, the West Ranch girls team won the silver division of the Beach Cities Invitational. West Ranch went 6-1 in the two-day tournament and Allison Summers recorded 82 kills in the tournament, including 11 against Our Lady of Peace in the silver division final.
In college golf, the College of the Canyons women’s team won its first Western State Conference match of the season, shooting 345 at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, and beat Bakersfield College by four shots on Monday. Jennifer Kim shot a team best 10-over par 82 for COC.
In college volleyball, the College of the Canyons women’s team beat Antelope Valley College in four games on Friday night. Lindsey Murachanian had a team-high 15 kills and Jillian Anderson had 12 kills for COC, winners of five straight matches. Next up for COC is Santa Barbara City College tonight in Santa Barbara.
In club ice hockey, the Valencia Flyers won two games over the weekend, beating the Bakersfield Junior Condors in both games. The Flyers won 3-1 on Saturday and followed up with a 4-0 shutout on Sunday in Bakersfield. Brian Fiol and David Tagvoryan had a goal in each game.
The Flyers started the weekend on a losing note. The Fresno Monsters beat the Flyers, 4-3, in a shootout on Friday night at the Ice Station.
