The Master’s College women’s volleyball team won two matches, and lost two matches, in the Seaside Invitational at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego over the weekend.
The Master’s College opened the tournament losing in three games to Missouri Baptist. But The Master’s College bounced back to win matches against Savannah College of Art and Design from Georgia and Huston-Tillotson from Texas.
The Master’s College ended the tournament losing in five games to Hannibal-LeGrange form Missouri.
Sam Dougherty had 53 kills in the four matches. She averaged 13.2 kills per match and had a tournament-high 17 in her team’s three-game sweep over Huston-Tillotson.
Tori Callihan recorded 13 kills against Huston-Tillotson and 12 against Hannibal-LeGrange.
Three players from The Master’s College reached double digits in kills in the five-game match against Hannibal LeGrange. Jenna Kapuscinski led The Master’s College with 14 kills.

In college soccer, The Master’s College women played to a 1-1 draw against Grand Canyon University.
Rachel Hartenberger scored a goal in the 71st minute for The Master’s College.
Her goal tied the game. Marina Nesic scored for Grand Canyon in the 68th minute to give her team a 1-0 lead.
The team teams played through two overtimes and could not break the tie.
The Master’s College is 1-0-1 after two games. The team’s next game is Friday against St. Mary’s from Nebraska at Reese Field.
The Dodgers and Hiroki Kuroda gave their fans something to cheer about last night.
Kuroda took a no-hitter into the eighth inning and the Dodgers beat the hated Phillies, 3-0.
Newly acquired catcher Rod Barrajas hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to give the Dodgers a 3-0 lead.
Meanwhile, Kuroda kept the Phillies hitless until the eighth inning. Jayson Werth walked to lead off the inning and Raul Ibanez hit into a fielder’s choice. Then Shane Victorino, hitless in seven career at-bats against Kuroda, singled sharply to right field to break up the no-hit bid.
With the win, the Dodgers are 5 ½ games behind the Phillies for the lead in the National League Wild Card standings.
The Dodgers continue their series with the Phillies tonight at Dodger Stadium. It will be Carlos Monasterios for the Dodgers against Kyle Kendrick for the Phillies. Pregame starts at 6:30 on AM 1220, KHTS.
