The whispers have been getting steadily louder since Saturday’s win over Arizona Christian, the 24th consecutive Mustangs victory: Tuesday’s new NAIA D1 rankings might reveal a new top team in the country.
Today, it came to fruition, as TMU moved into the No. 1 spot for the first time in program history.

Previous No. 1 William Penn (Iowa), who held the top spot since January 16, was defeated at home by Graceland this week to open the door for Master’s to claim No. 1 for itself with wins over San Diego Christian and Arizona Christian.
The Mustangs did their part, and the coaches around the country did theirs. TMU received all nine first-place votes, according to Chad Waller (NAIA Director of Athletics Communications & Media).
Master’s (25-1) has the most wins in NAIA Division 1 and their only loss came at Antelope Valley, 87-84, on November 3rd of last year.
The Master’s University is followed by LSU Shreveport (2nd), William Penn (T-3rd), Pikeville (T-3rd), and Columbia (5th) in the top 5.
TMU will be at Westmont (20-4) Saturday night, who jumped from 16th all the way up to No. 8. The top-ten showdown tips off at 7:30.
