Three High School Golfers Advance To CIF Individual Finals

Three players from the Foothill League advanced to the CIF Southern Section Individual finals May 26 at Hacienda Gold Course in La Habra Heights. Jonathan Chang and Alex Macaluso from Valencia and J.J. Holen from West Ranch all made the cut for the next round of high school golf playoffs. Holen shot a 2-under par 69 at the Sterling Hills Golf Course in Camarillo on Monday. Chang was 1-over at 72 and Macaluso shot a 71.

Austin Raanes of Quartz Hill won the individual finals with a 5-under 66.

In high school swimming, the Hart girls 200 medley relay team has the top seed for today’s CIF-Southern Section Masters Meet at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach.

The Canyon girls 200 medley relay team is seeded second.

The Hart boys 200 medley relay team has the No. 2 seed, behind top-seeded Corona Del Mar.

Canyon’s Kearston Livingstone is the second seed in the 100 butterfly. Hart’s Chelsea Griffiths is the second seed in the 100 backstroke. Yumi So of Cresecenta Valley is the top seed in both events.

The Hart girls 400 freestyle relay team is the second seed, behind No. 1 Palm Desert.

In high school volleyball, Valencia travels to El Modena for a second-round match in the CIF Division II playoffs.
