Three-way Tie For First In Foothill League Baseball Standings

West Ranch, Saugus and Hart winners.

The West Ranch, Saugus and Hart baseball teams posted crucial wins yesterday against their Foothill League rivals.

Casey Watkins and Cal Vogelsang hit home runs for West Ranch in a 7-1 win over Valencia. Saugus squeaked out a 3-2 win over Golden Valley. Hart’s Devin Rodriguez hit a homer and drove in five runs in a 15-3 win over Canyon.

West Ranch, Saugus and Hart are tied for first in the Foothill League standings with 3-1 records.

In high school volleyball, the Valencia boys swept Warren Township from Illinois in three games. It was a matchup of state powerhouses. Valencia is the reigning national champions. Warren Township is a regional champion from Illinois. Jon Souisa had 11 kills for Valencia.

In high school swimming, the Hart and Valencia teams stayed undefeated in league. The Hart boys team beat West Ranch, 132-38. The Hart girls won, 113-57. The Valencia boys were 136-32 winners over Golden Valley. The Valencia girls won their meet, 127-43.

In college baseball, The Master’s College fell to Westmont, 9-7.
