Trinity Boys Basketball Team Beats Santa Clarita Christian For First Time

khts_sportsThe Trinity Classicial Academy boys basketball team opened their new home court with a win over Santa Clarita Christian.

The Trinity boys beat  Santa Clarita Christian, 51-41, and won for the first time over their crosstown rivals in school history.

James Brooks scored 15 points for Trinity at the Velocity Sports Performance court, the new home of the Knights basketball team.

The Valencia boys basketball team rebounded in the Canyon Classic Tournament with a win over Eastside, 62-47.

Valencia’s Troy Hammel scored a game-high 22 points and hit six 3-pointers.

On the girls side, Golden Valley lost to Kennedy, 63-42, in the third-place game of the Lady Grizzlies Tournament. Golden Valley’s Janae Dean scored 20 points.

The Saugus girls lost to Chaminade, 69-51, in the Gold Coast Tournament at Rio Mesa.

The West Ranch girls lost to  Rio Mesa, 59-41, in the Gold Coast Tournament.

In high school soccer, the Saugus girls shut out Ventura, 7-0, and ran their record to 5-0 to start the season.

Monica Allen and Angie Weiner each scored two goals for Saugus.

The Golden Valley girls lost to Alemany, 2-0.

The Trinity girls shut out Westmark, 5-0.

The Santa Clarita Christian boys beat Rolling Hills Prep, 4-1.

The Golden Valley boys lost to Alemany, 3-1.

On the same day the Angels landed all-stars Albert Pujols and pitcher C.J. Wilson, the Dodgers signed pitcher Aaron Harang to a two-year deal.

Harang was 14-7 with a 3.64 ERA for the Padres last season.

The Dodgers also traded Dana Eveland, who pitched for the College of the Canyons, to the Baltimore Orioles for a pair of minor leaguers. Eveland was 3-2 with a 3.03 ERA in five starts for the Dodgers last season.

The Kings lost to the Minnesota Wild, 4-2, and have a three-game losing streak. The Wild was up 3-0 before the Kings scored their first goal.

Dustin Penner and Trent Hunter scored in the third period for the Kings. Jack Johnson assisted on both goals.

The Kings plays the Dallas Stars on Saturday night at Staples Center. The puck drops at 7:30.
