Trinity Softball Team Erupts Against Santa Clarita Christian

khts_sportsThe Trinity Classical Academy softball team beat Santa Clarita Christian, 12-2, behind a seven-run outburst in the third inning.

Jacey Massetto hit a three-run home run to cap the third inning and give Trinity a 9-1 lead.

Haley Heerdt drove in a run in the third inning and Lacey Cerulle knocked in a run in the fourth for Santa Clarita Christian.

Trinity scored two more runs in the fourth inning and one more in the fifth.

The Valencia baseball team beat Collierville of Tennessee, 8-0, in the 19th annual USA Baseball Classic in Memphis.

Valencia starter Chris Castellon tossed six shutout innings and gave up only three hits.

Alex Bishop had two hits, including a triple and drove in two runs. Nick Rivas had two hits, one a double, and knocked in two runs.

There are a couple high school softball games on tap for today. The Sugus softball team is home for a game against Granada Hills. The Santa Clarita Christian girls are home against Lennox.

The Foothill League track and field teams are at the Arcadia Invitational meet starting today.

The Lakers will look to snap a three-game losing streak against the Portland Trail Blazers tonight and head into the playoffs with some sort of winning touch.

The Lakers are coming off losses to the Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors. The Trail Blazers have won three of their past four games, including 98-87 over the Jazz on Thursday.

The game between the Lakers and the Blazers is set to tip-off at 7.

The Kings travel to Anaheim for a game against the Ducks tonight. The Kings clinched a playoff spot with a 3-2 shootout win over the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday.

The Ducks have won seven of their last 10 games, but are still jockeying to secure a playoff spot.
