Trinity’s Dakota Prochnow Selected As CIF Division II 8-Man Football Offensive Player Of The Year

Trinity Classical Academy’s Dakota Prochnow was selected as the CIF Southern Section Division II 8-man football offensive player of the year.

The Trinity football team reached the semifinals of the Division II 8-man playoffs.

Three players from the Trinity football team earned spots on the All-Division II team. Juniors Patch Kulp and Eli Skorich were selected to the defensive team. Senior Spencer Klehn was selected to the offensive team.

In high school soccer, the Saugus girls are ranked No. 2 in the Southern Section Division 2 poll. The Centurions shut out La Reina, 1-0, on Saturday. Saugus has not surrendered a goal in its past three games.

Claremont is the No. 1 team in the Division 2 rankings.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls are the No. 10 team in the Division 7 poll. Marshall is ranked No. 1 in Division 7.

The Hart boys are ranked No. 8 in the Southern Section Division 4 poll after a 3-0 start to the season. The Indians are coming off a 1-0 shutout over Moorpark and have wins over Westlake and Quartz Hill. Hart has outscored its opponents, 9-2.

Cathedral is the top-ranked team in Division 4.

On the field, the West Ranch girls soccer team shut out Moorpark, 3-0 in the Westlake Showcase over the weekend. Valerie Mercado, Taylor Ayers and Carlee Utvich each scored for the Wildcats.

The Canyon boys soccer team went 1-3 in the Palmdale Falcon Classic. The Cowboys lone win was against Westlake, 2-0, in their first game.

In  high school basketball, the Golden Valley girls beat Littlerock, 60-13, behind a 17-point effort by Mariah Madison.

In the NBA, the Clippers beat the Utah Jazz, 105-104. Jamal Crawford scored 20 points off the bench, including a pair of free throws to give the Clippers a four-point lead in the final seconds of the game.

The Clippers handed the Jazz their first loss at home this season.
