Two swimmers from the Canyons Aquatic Club qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials, bringing the total numbers of Olympic hopefuls to five from the Santa Clarita-based swim club.
Valencia High graduate Bob Hwang will compete in the 200-meter butterfly and Hart High graduate Nick Korth will swim in the 200-meter breaststroke at the Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb., next year.
Hwang qualified for the Olympic Trials at the USA Swimming National Championships at Stanford in Palo Alto. Korth earned a spot in the Olympic Trials at the Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions in Mission Viejo.
They join West Ranch grad Riley Mita, Hart grad Konrad Antoniuk and Golden Valley grad Michelle Duraj at the Olympic Trials.

In baseball, the Angels scored two runs in the ninth inning and beat the Yankees, 6-4. Bobby Abreu hit a two-run homer, his second of the game, off Yankees closer Mariano Rivera to break a 4-4 tie and rally the Angels.
In other games, the Rangers squeaked past the Mariners, 7-6, and the A’s beat the Blue Jays, 4-1.
The Indians beat the Tigers, 3-2, in 14 innings, the White Sox beat the Orioles, 4-3, the Rays shut out the Royals, 4-0, and the Red Sox beat the Twins, 4-3.
In the National League, the Giants shut out the Pirates, 6-0, the Diamondbacks beat the Astros, 11-9, the Mets beat the Padres, 5-4, and the Rockies slipped past the Reds, 3-2.
The Braves beat the Marlins, 4-3, in 11 innings, the Nationals beat the Cubs, 3-1, and the Brewers beat the Cardinals, 5-3, in 10 innings.
