Undefeated Valencia Football Team Takes On Winless Canyon

news_sportsThe Foothill League football season opens tonight with Valencia hosting Canyon at Valencia High School.

Valencia is 5-0 and ranked second in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division poll. Canyon’s best player is a freshman, the quarterback should be a freshman and the team is 0-5.

 

In other games, Hart plays Saugus at College of the Canyons and West Ranch gets Golden Valley at Canyon High school.

Hart is well-rested, coming off a bye and an impressive 28-7 win against Paraclete. Saugus has lost four games in a row and is coming off a 50-0 shutout against Crespi.

Golden Valley hasn’t scored a touchdown in three games. West Ranch has done plenty of scoring, except in its last game, a 47-7 loss to Los Osos.

In girls volleyball, Hart needed five games to beat Saugus. Breena Beckett had 15 kills and Jennie Long had 14 to lead Hart. Taylor Schubert had a team-high 16 kills and Sarah Blomgren added 15 kills for Saugus.

West Ranch swept Golden Valley in three games. Allison Summers had a team-high 16 kills for West Ranch, undefeated at 4-0 in Foothill League matches.
