The Valencia baseball team took some of the suspense out of Friday league finales. They clinched Foothill League championship leaving only third place and the final automatic playoff berth up for grabs.
Alex Pitman and Scotland McKenzie each hit two-run home runs in a 10-3 win over Saugus. That coupled with a West Ranch loss to Hart gives Valencia the league title.
West Ranch, the second-place team in league, lost to Hart, 4-2, dashing the Wildcats’ league championship chances. Hart pitchers Trevor Brown and C.J. Millar combined to hold West Ranch to four hits.
Golden Valley beat Canyon, 5-1. Kamran Young and Chris Smith each drove in two runs for Golden Valley.
In high school softball, Hart and Valencia enter the final day of league play tied for first place. Hart is home against last-place Golden Valley. Valencia is home against third-place Saugus. And by the way, West Ranch is at Canyon tonight at the Hart PONY Complex.

In high school volleyball, Hart won its CIF-Southern Section Division II wild-card match by sweeping Hueneme. Hart’s next opponent is Westlake, the champions of the Marmonte League, on Friday.
In college baseball, The Master’s College was eliminated from the NAIA National Championship tournament, losing 6-4 to Taylor University of Indiana.
