Hart takes reigning national champs to five games.
The Valencia boys volleyball team almost met its match Tuesday against Hart. It took five games, but Valencia beat Hart and extended its Foothill League winning streak to 73 matches. John Souisa had 10 kills for Valencia, the reigning national champions.
In other league matches, West Ranch beat Golden Valley in four games and Saugus downed Canyon in five.

In high school golf, West Ranch’s J.J. Holen shot a 1-under par 70 to lead his team to an 11-stroke win over Valencia at Robinson Ranch’s mountain course.
In high school softball, Valencia’s Madison Shipman drove in two runs in her team’s 5-1 win over El Modena. Golden Valley lost to Chaminade, 9-1.
In high school tennis, Valencia rolled past Hart, 14-4, to stay undefeated in Foothill League play. Canyon improved to 3-0 with an 11-7 win over Saugus and West Ranch blanked Golden Valley, 18-0.
The College of the Canyons baseball team went on a home run binge against L.A. Valley College. Matt Warr led the attack with two home runs in an 18-2 rout. COC hit six home runs and won its 10th straight game.
In college softball, College of the Canyons’ Ashley Imperial pitched and hit her team to a 3-2 win over Citrus College. She drove in the tying run and won her 10th game of the season.
It’s a big day in high school baseball. Valencia and West Ranch, part of a four-way tie for first, play each other at West Ranch High School. Golden Valley is at Saugus and Canyon visits Hart.
