Valencia Football Team Rallies In 4th Quarter To Beat Hart

khts_sportsThe Valencia football team needed a fourth-quarter rally to beat Hart, 24-17, on Friday night.

Valencia running back Steven Manfro scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, one on a 71-yard run and the other on a 49-yard run, to give his team the lead. Valencia improved to 3-0 in Foothill League play. Hart dropped to 1-2, losing its second league game in a row.

Hart had a 14-3 lead at halftime, but couldn’t hold it in the second half.

Hart running back Dylan Edwards rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Both his scores came in the first half.

In other Foothill League games, Canyon unloaded on West Ranch, scoring eight touchdowns in a 59-28 win.

Canyon running back Darius Rudolph scored four touchdowns. He rushed for 176 yards and scored three touchdowns on the ground. He also caught a 24-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.

Canyon quarterback Jonathan Jerozal threw four touchdown passes and was 15-of-26 for 230 yards.

Canyon receiver Drew Wolitarsky caught seven passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns.

Two of the few bright spots for West Ranch were running backs Quaid Willis and Andres Gutierrez. Willis rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown. Gutierrez gained 134 yards and scored a touchdown.

The Saugus football team is thinking playoffs after a 27-12 win over Golden Valley.

Saugus defensive back Scott Hamilton picked off three passes and took one interception 102 yards for a touchdown. Hamilton has five interceptions in the past two games.

Saugus running back Tyler Watt scored two touchdowns and rushed for 109 yards.

Saugus improved to 2-1 in Foothill League play and has yet to play first-place Valencia. If Saugus can beat Valencia on Nov. 11, the Centurions could clinch the Foothill League championship.

Golden Valley running back Jeff Coprich rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns against Saugus.

It looks like the Santa Clarita Christian football team took out its frustrations against Hillcrest Christian. Santa Clarita Christian won 54-0 in a game that was called after two quarter because of the mercy rule.

It was the seventh mercy rule win for Santa Clarita Christian this year. Two weeks ago, Santa Clarita Christian lost to Faith Baptist, the only time this season Santa Clarita Christian has played a full four quarters.

Daniel Green and Jake Asher each scored two touchdowns for Santa Clarita Christian.

In college football, the College of the Canyons football team lost to Cerritos College, 31-24.

COC quarterback Justin Arias threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns. But he also threw an interception, one of two turnovers COC committed.

In the World Series, the San Francisco Giants shut out the Texas Rangers, 4-0, and are up three games to one.

The Giants are one win away from winning their first World Series since moving to San Francisco.

Aubrey Huff hit a two-run home run in the third inning and Buster Posey added a solo shot in the eighth.

Game 5 of the World Series is tonight in Texas.

In the NBA, the Lakers trounced the Golden State Warriors, 107-83, behind 26 points from Pau Gasol. He also had 12 rebounds as the Lakers won their third game in a row to start the season.

Kobe Bryant scored 20 points and Lamar Odom had 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Lakers.
