Valencia Football Team Stays Put At No. 2 In CIF Poll

news_sportsThe Valencia football team maintained its hold on No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division poll after a 35-14 win over Loyola.

Valencia, a perfect 5-0 to start the season, is the only team from the Foothill League ranked in the top 10. But Hart, which had a bye last week, is closing in at No. 13.

 

Moorpark is No. 1 for the second week in a row and is undefeated at 5-0.

The Santa Clarita Christian football team was mercy-ruled in its last game, but it didn’t cost the team in the polls. Santa Clarita Christian is No. 4 in the CIF Southern Section Division I 8-man poll.

The West Ranch girls volleyball team, No. 7 in the CIF Southern Section Division 1-A poll, swept Canyon in three games to improve to 3-0 in Foothill League play. Hannah Orlandi and Allison Summers each had 13 kills for West Ranch.

The Valencia girls needed five games to beat Saugus. Valencia’s Katie Hank had 21 kills. Taylor Schubert had 13 kills and 22 digs for Saugus.

The Hart girls swept Golden Valley in three games. Jennie Long had 14 kills for Hart.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls volleyball team, No. 8 in the Division 5-AA poll, lost in five games to Faith Baptist.

In college soccer, The Master’s College women’s team lost 1-0 to Azusa Pacific in double overtime. It is the third loss in the past five games for The Master’s College, the No. 18 team in the NAIA rankings.
