Valencia Football Team Takes On Hart At College Of The Canyons

khts_sportsThe Valencia football team will look to widen its lead in the Foothill League standings against Hart at College of the Canyons tonight.

The Vikings have won their first two league games and are coming off a 34-7 win over Canyon.

Hart lost to Saugus, 24-10, last week, and had its five-game winning streak snapped.

Canyon will look to get back in the Foothill League race against West Ranch at Valencia High School. Both teams are 1-1 in league.

The Wildcats survived a feisty Golden Valley team, 28-22, last week.

Those gutty Grizzlies, still in search of their first Foothill League win, play the suddenly resurgent Saugus Centurions at Canyon High School.

In college football, the College of the Canyons is on the road to play Cerritos College on Saturday night. COC lost to Allan Hancock College last week, 34-27, and has a three-game losing streak.

The Saugus girls volleyball team capped an undefeated Foothill League season with a three-game sweep over Golden Valley. Saugus won the Foothill League championship and ended Valencia’s nine-year run as the top team in league.

Jaclyn Clark and Sarah Blomgren each had 12 kills to lead Saugus.

The Valencia volleyball team beat West Ranch in three games and finished in second place in league.

In the loss, West Ranch finished in third place in league.

The Hart girls volleyball team finished its Foothill League season with a four-game win over Canyon. Amy King had a match-high 13 kills for Hart.

In Game 6 of the World Series, the Cardinals rallied twice and finally beat the Rangers, 10-9, on a walk-off solo home run by Ryan Freese in the 11th inning.

Game 7 of the World Series is tonight in St. Louis.

In the NHL, the Kings are back to their winning ways, 5-3, over the Dallas Stars.

Slava Voynov scored the first two goals of his NHL career for the Kings. Mike Richards notched three assists.

Next up for the Kings are the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday night.
