Valencia Girls Basketball Team Wins Burroughs Tournament

khts_sportsThe Valencia girls basketball team won the Burroughs Tournament beating St. Bernard, 62-54, in the championship game. Lauren Spargo scored 15 points against St. Bernard and earned most valuable player for the tournament.

Kalia Summerlin scored a team-high 21 points for Valencia in the championship game.

The Saugus girls held off a late-surge from Camarillo and won, 57-51. Megan Dawe scored 22 points and teammate Jordan Oster scored 18 for Saugus. Dawe was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field in the fourth quarter.

The Golden Valley girls beat Vasquez, 58-27.

The Saugus boys basketball team has lost two games in a row. After reaching the quarterfinals of the San Fernando Valley Invitational, Saugus tumbled into the seventh-place game of the tournament.

The Saugus boys lost to Granada Hills, 56-49, and will play El Camino Real today at 2:30.

Alemany and Crespi will play for the San Fernando Valley Invitational championship tonight at Alemany High School.

The Golden Valley boys basketball team is playing in the Reseda Tournament starting today. The Hart boys are in the Santa Barbara Tournament and the West Ranch boys are in the Crespi Tournament.

The Valencia boys basketball team has a non-league game against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame today.

The Valencia boys soccer team won two games in the San Gabriel Valley Classic and its pool. Valencia shut out Rosamond, 3-0, on a goal and an assist from Aubrey Girard.

With the win, Valencia reached the quarterfinals of the tournament and beat St. Genevieve, 3-0. Girard, Matt Peters and Zach Klindworth each scored for Valencia against St. Genevieve.

Saugus plays in the semifinals of the tournament this morning at 9.

The West Ranch boys soccer team begins play in the Valley Kick Off Classic today at Crespi High School.

The Lakers lost to the visiting Milwaukee Bucks, 98-79, at Staples Center. Kobe Bryant scored 21 points in the loss.

Next for the Lakers is the much anticipated Christmas Day game against the LeBron James and the Miami Heat.

The Kings shut out the Colorado Avalanche, 5-0, scoring three goals in the third period. Dustin Brown scored two goals and had two assists.

The Kings return home to Staples Center on Thursday night for a game against the Edmonton Oilers.
