Valencia, Hart Football Teams Clash For First Place In Foothill League

sportslocalThe Valencia High football team gets its toughest test in Foothill League play tonight.

Hart, the 10th-ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division, winners of three straight games and undefeated against league opponents, takes on Valencia, the No. 2 team in the Northern Division and owners of a perfect 7-0 record.

Hart is coming off a 45-27 win over longtime rival Canyon. Valencia shut out Golden Valley, 49-0, in its last game.

The game will be at College of the Canyons and you can hear all the action live tonight start at 7:30 on AM 1220, KHTS.

In other games, Canyon is at West Ranch and Saugus is at Golden Valley.

West Ranch lost a heartbreaker, 26-22, to Saugus last week. Saugus scored the game-winning touchdown on a 97-yard drive in the fourth quarter.

West Ranch is in a must-win situation if it wants to keep its slim playoff hopes alive. Saugus should have little problem against winless Golden Valley.

In high school volleyball, Valencia, the first-place team in the Foothill League, beat Saugus in four games.

In other games, Hart swept Golden Valley in three games and West Ranch beat Canyon in three games.

About Connie Jones

Connie and her husband, John, moved to the Santa Clarita Valley almost 30 years ago. Living in Santa Clarita for that long is the direct opposite of Connie’s childhood. She was an Army ‘brat’ who moved every two to three years. Consequently, she has lived in many states and even spent three years in Europe. All three of her kids went to Santa Clarita schools. Connie says the best thing about her job at KHTS is that she is never bored. “If I’m not smiling, Carl is sure to ask why, just before giving me a mind-boggling project.” “KHTS AM-1220 is an integral part of our community and I’m glad to be a part of it. Besides, the DJs will take my request to play Shania Twain’s ‘Still the One’ for my wedding anniversary – gotta love that!”
