Valencia High Graduate Earns SEC Softball Player Of The Week

madison_shipman_copyValencia High graduate Madison Shipman was selected as the SEC softball player of the week.

Shipman, a sophomore at the University of Tennessee, hit four home runs and drove in 13 runs against Georgia and Auburn for the week of April 2-8.

The Tennessee softball team, ranked No. 9 in the NCAA, swept Auburn for the first time in school history. Shipman homered in all three games and hit a grand slam in the series opener. She collected four home runs and hit two in Sunday’s game, a 6-2 win over Auburn.

She drove in both runs with a single in a 2-1 win over Georgia.

Shipman leads the SEC in RBIs with 26, hits with 22, and total bases with 42.
