The Valencia High football team remained at No. 3 in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division poll after its 35-14 win over Palmdale.
No other team from the Foothill League is in the top 10 this week, but West Ranch moved into striking distance. West Ranch has won three games in a row, including a 33-17 win over Beverly Hills on Friday night.
Next up for Valencia is 1-2 Santa Monica on Friday night at Valencia High School. West Ranch has a bye this week. The team’s next game is Oct. 9 against Los Osos from Rancho Cucamonga.

The West Ranch girls volleyball team, fresh off winning the silver division championship at the Beach Cities Invitational, is ranked ninth in the CIF Southern Section Division 1-A poll. Next up for the West Ranch girls is Ayala in the Aloha Cougar Classic in Capistrano Valley on Saturday.
In college soccer, The Master’s College women’s team lost, 2-1, to Fresno Pacific, snapping its nine-game unbeaten streak to open the season.
After playing to a scoreless tie in the first half, Robyn Estrada gave The Master’s College, the 14th ranked team in NAIA, a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 63rd minute. But Fresno Pacific scored twice in the final 14 minutes of the game to hand The Master’s College its first loss of the season and its first loss in Golden State Athletic Conference play.
The College of the Canyons women’s team lost, 2-1, to Pierce college.
In college volleyball, The Master’s College women’s team lost in three games to California Baptist University. The Master’s College women have lost five straight matches and dropped to 1-6 in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
The College of the Canyons women’s team lost in five games to Santa Barbara.
