Valencia Hosts Agoura In CIF Softball Playoffs

The CIF-Southern Section Division I softball playoffs resume today with Valencia, Hart and Saugus all in action.

Valencia, the top-seeded team from the Foothill League, is at home against Agoura, the fourth-place team from the Marmonte League. Agoura shut out Camarillo, 5-0, in the wild-card round.

Hart is home against Trabuco Hills, the second-place team from the Sea View League. Hart finished in a tie with Valencia for the Foothill League championship. Trabuco Hills won three of its last four league games, posting shutouts in its three wins. The lone loss: 11-2 to Foothill, the Sea View League champs.

Saugus is on the road against Thousand Oaks, the Marmonte League champions. Thousand Oaks won its last four league games and won the league title with a 13-1 record.

The Santa Clarita Christian softball team plays Grace Brethren, the Frontier League champions, in the first round of the Division VI playoffs.

All games are scheduled to start at 3:15.

In high school football, Collin Keoshian, a running back and linebacker for Santa Clarita Christian, will play at BYU, according to a report in The Signal. He is the first player from Santa Clarita Christian to receive a NCAA Division I scholarship to play football.
