Valencia Scores Big Over Simi Valley In Valley Invitational Baseball League Playoffs

sportslocalThe Valencia baseball team outslugged Simi Valley, 14-11, to win in the first round of the Valley Invitational Baseball League playoffs yesterday.

Timmy Lopes drove in four runs and was 4-for-4 with two doubles for Valencia. Garrett Adamiak drove in four runs, three with a bases-loaded double in a six-run fourth inning.

Starter Justin Hanks got win, going four innings and striking out two.

Valencia will face Calabasas in the second round of the playoffs on Saturday. Calabasas beat Taft, 6-3.

Hart won its first round playoff game, 11-1, over Kennedy. Hart pitcher Garrett Gooding struck out four batters in relief and had three hits and an RBI.

In other first round playoff games, Saugus beat Granada Hills, 11-5, Canyon lost to Alemany, 9-1, and Chatsworth beat Golden Valley, 5-1.
