Valencia Softball Team Shuts Out Hart

khts_sportsValencia pitcher Sarah Enriquez threw a two-hit shutout and downed Hart, 3-0, in a Foothill League game. Enriquez struck out six, didn’t walk anybody and pitched a complete game.

Caitlin Rooney hit a solo home run in the fourth inning and Madison Shipman drove in two runs with a single in the third inning for Valencia.

The Saugus softball team scored four runs in the fourth inning en route to a 9-2 win over Canyon. Saugus pitcher Cassie Herrera got the win, striking out six.

 

The College of the Canyons baseball team rallied for four runs in the eighth inning, but lost to Glendale College, 12-11, in a crucial Western State Conference game.

COC catcher Hugo Hernandez hit a three-run home run to tie the game 11-11 in the eighth inning. Glendale College scored a run in the top of the ninth to win the game.

The Master’s College baseball team swept a doubleheader against Azusa Pacific over the weekend. The Master’s College won the first game, 9-7, and the second game, 17-14.

Joe Zeller and Jared Otto each hit home runs for The Master’s College in the first game. Zeller hit another home run in the second game as did Chris Talley.

The Saugus High dance team is hosting The Jungle Dance Show this weekend in the school’s gymnasium. Two shows are scheduled, one of Friday night and another on Saturday night. Tickets are $10, $5 for students and kids under 2 are free.

The Saugus dance team won three national championships and a sweepstakes national championship during the United Spirit Association competition at the Anaheim Convention Center last month.

The Lakers will try to hold serve and maintain homecourt advantage tonight in Game 5 of the NBA playoffs against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The series is tied at two games apiece. Neither team has lost at home, but the Thunder has won the past two games in impressive fashion.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 at Staples Center.

The Dodgers were rained out in New York yesterday. The Mets and the Dodgers will play a doubleheader today. The first game will pit Dodgers starter Hiroki Kuroda against Johan Santana for the Mets. Charlie Haeger gets the start for the Dodgers in the second game against Oliver Perez for the Mets.

The double dip begins at 12:30 with the pregame show on AM 1220, KHTS.
