Valencia Takes On Buena In Second Round Of CIF Football Playoffs

sportslocalThe Valencia football team marches on in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division playoffs, lucky to be alive after slipping past Thousand Oaks, 28-27, in the first round.

Valencia, the top-seeded team in the Northern Division playoffs, narrowly escaped getting upset. Next up for Valencia is on the road against Buena on Friday night.

Buena, the second place team out of the Channel League, had little trouble against Atascadero in a 41-14 win in the first round.

The Santa Clarita Christian football team will play Thacher in the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division I 8-man playoffs on Saturday at Canyon High School.

Santa Clarita Christian, the reigning Division I 8-man champions, knocked out Hesperia Christian, 66-21, in the second round of the playoffs.

Thacher is coming off a 78-20 win over Excelsior Education Center.

In high school soccer, the Golden Valley girls team won its season opener, 6-0, over Fillmore. Raelee Hall and Jackee Sanchez each scored two goals apiece and Joanna Lagunas assisted on three goals.
