Valencia, West Ranch, Hart Football Teams Win Foothill League Openers

news_sportsThe Valencia, Hart and West Ranch football teams started Foothill League play on winning notes.

Valencia and West Ranch posted impressive, eerily similar, wins in their Foothill League openers. Valencia beat an overmatched Canyon team, 49-7. West Ranch beat an inexperienced Golden Valley team by the same score, 49-7.

 

Valencia quarterback Alex Bishop threw three touchdowns, two to Jake Reed in the second half.

West Ranch’s Patrick Kelly scored a pair of defensive touchdowns, one on a fumble recovery, the other on an interception.

Hart quarterback CJ Reyes threw two touchdown passes and running back Jake Stephens scored two touchdowns in their team’s 31-21 win over Saugus.

Santa Clarita Christian’s Ethan Espinosa rushed for 106 yards on 25 carries, but his team lost, 48-16, to The Thacher School in Ojai.

In college football, little used College of the Canyons running back Anthony Johnson scored on a 41-yard run in his team’s 14-6 win over Glendale College.

COC defensive back Antwan Smith retuned an interception for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
