The Hart girls golf team won the Newhall Land Cup, the final Foothill League match of the season, by a whopping 29 strokes at TPC Valencia on Wednesday.
But it was Valencia’s Alison Lee who put up the most impressive round of the season.
Lee, needing to win the Newhall Land Cup individual championship to qualify for postseason, shot a tournament best 2-under par, 206. She won by three strokes over Hart’s Nikki Prichard, who shot an equally impressive 1-over par, 209, in the two-day tournament.
Prichard earned the Foothill League MVP by shooting a 185 in the five league matches, one shot better than teammate Brenna Carlson. The top-seven golfers in league qualified for CIF postseason play.
The top-five golfers in league are from Hart. Prichard, Carlson, Amanda Corr, Kendell Dusenberry and Jamie Corr from Hart qualified for CIF postseason. Nicole DeFrancisco and Catharine Walgamuth from Saugus round out the top seven and the CIF playoff qualifiers.
The top three teams in the Foothill League standings also qualified for CIF postseason. Hart, Saugus and Valencia will move on to the team portion of the CIF playoffs.
