The kids from Orange County tamed the Robinson Ranch golf course over the past three days in the American Junior Golf Association West Junior Open.
Jeffrey Kang of Fullerton won the boys tournament and Jessica Vasilic of Anaheim Hills won the girls championship.
Kang shot a 3-over par 75 in the third and final round of the West Junior Open on Thurseday and won by one shot over Todd Baek of San Diego. Kang was 4-under par for the three-day tournament.
Vasilic rallied from eight shots back and won after shooting a 3-under par 69 on the final day of the tournament. She had an eagle and four birdies in her final round. Her eagle came on the 505-yard, par 5, where she holed out a 40-yard pitch shot.
Valencia’s Max Homa was 2-over par for the tournament and finished in sixth place on the boys side, six shots behind Kang.
Calyton Thatch and J.J. Holen, both golfers for West Ranch High School, tied for 47th, 20 shots off the lead.
In the girls tournament, Hart’s Amanda Corr finished 24th and Kendall Dusenberry was tied for 26th.
