Valencia’s Lonnie Jackson Scores 35 Points In Win Over West Ranch

sportslocalThe race for the Foothill League boys basketball championship is getting tight. Valencia’s Lonnie Jackson scored 35 points in his team’s 78-73 win over West Ranch.

Golden Valley’s Trevor Wiseman scored 27 in his team’s 66-56 win over Saugus.

Golden Valley has a one-game lead over Valencia in the Foothill League standings. The two teams meet on Friday night.

 

Canyon beat Hart, 60-49, behind 16 points from Coley Apsay. Canyon is tied with Valencia at 5-2 and in second place in the Foothill League standings.

On the girls side, West Ranch beat Valencia, 53-46. Erin Ruiz scored 21 points for West Ranch.

Canyon got 15 points from Alexus Bryant in an 80-59 win over Hart. Saugus beat Golden Valley, 75-34. Kaylynn Martin scored 19 points for Saugus.

In high school soccer, Manny Padron recorded a hat trick for Saugus in a 3-3 tie against Golden Valley. Juan Trejo had two assists for Golden Valley.

Valencia’s Renato Sanchez scored the lone goal in his team’s 1-0 win over West Ranch.

The Santa Clarita Christian boys lost to Oakwood Christian, 3-0.

On the girls side, Hart’s Mallory Utley scored two goals in her team’s 3-1 win over Canyon.

Saugus shut out Golden Valley 2-0. Emily Relles scored both goals for Saugus.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls got a hat trick from Kayla Gale in an 8-0 win over Providence.

The Master’s College women’s basketball team lost by one point, 74-73, to Azusa Pacific. Annie Gillespie was one of four players in double figures for The Master’s College. She scored 20 points and Erica Inge scored 16.

The Kings beat the New York Rangers, 2-1, and won their seventh game in a row. Anze Kopitar scored a short-handed goal in the second period to give the Kings a 1-0 lead. Ryan Smyth scored the eventual game-winner in the third period.

The Clippers snapped their four-game losing streak with a 90-82 win over the Chicago Bulls. Eric Gordon scored 24 points and Chris Kaman had 11 rebounds for the Clippers. Next up is the Atlanta Hawks tonight.
