West Ranch Baseball Team Improves To 11-0

sportswestranchThe West Ranch baseball team puts its perfect 10-0 record in the Valley Invitational Baseball League to the test against Burroughs on Wednesday.

It was not much of a test as West Ranch won, 18-2, and improved to 11-0 in the summer baseball league.

Josh Heinz had three doubles and drove in four runs. Jared Ortiz had four hits and three RBIs.

In other games, Valencia beat Sylmar, 11-5, Golden Valley lost to Cleveland, 9-6, and Taft beat Saugus, 8-7.

In high school football, Hart and Valencia each reached the semifinals of the College of the Canyons-Hart 7 on 7 Passing Tournament, but neither team played for the championship. Alemany won the summer passing tournament downing Westlake, 8-6, in the championship game.

Westlake beat Hart in their semifinal game, 26-24. Alemany beat Valencia, 24-14, in the other semifinal.

About Connie Jones

Connie and her husband, John, moved to the Santa Clarita Valley almost 30 years ago. Living in Santa Clarita for that long is the direct opposite of Connie’s childhood. She was an Army ‘brat’ who moved every two to three years. Consequently, she has lived in many states and even spent three years in Europe. All three of her kids went to Santa Clarita schools. Connie says the best thing about her job at KHTS is that she is never bored. “If I’m not smiling, Carl is sure to ask why, just before giving me a mind-boggling project.” “KHTS AM-1220 is an integral part of our community and I’m glad to be a part of it. Besides, the DJs will take my request to play Shania Twain’s ‘Still the One’ for my wedding anniversary – gotta love that!”
