The West Ranch boys golf team finished third in the CIF Northern Team Divisional championship at Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai and is still alive in the playoffs.
West Ranch shot a 388 as a team and finished two strokes behind Northern Divisional champion Calabasas. The top-three teams were separated by two strokes. Arcadia was second at 387.
J.J. Holen shot the low round of the day, a 3-under 69. Luis Garcia shot a 6-over 78, second best on West Ranch, and C.J. Espino shot a 7-over 79.
The Valencia boys shot 402 as a team and finished tied for sixth in the Northern Divisional. Daniel Kim shot 79 to lead Valencia.
Saugus finished in ninth place with a team score of 407. Andrew Moore shot a 3-over 75 to lead Saugus.
West Ranch, Calabasas and Arcadia advance to the CIF Southern Section championship at Riverhawk Golf Course in Temecula on Thursday.
The Master’s College baseball team lost to No. 14 Fresno Pacific, 4-1, in the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament. Ben Ives was 2-for-3 and drove in The Master’s College’s only run in the second inning.
The Master’s College will play Concordia in the loser’s bracket today.
The CIF Southern Section Division II boys volleyball playoffs begin today. Valencia, the Foothill League champs, host Newbury Park. Golden Valley, Hart and Saugus are on the road in the opening round of playoffs.
Golden Valley, making it first appearance in the CIF playoffs, is at Arroyo Grande. Saugus plays San Luis Obispo and Hart is at Burroughs.
In high school softball, first-place Valencia travels across town to play Saugus. Canyon is at West Ranch.
The Lakers completed the sweep of the Utah Jazz, winning Game 4 of the NBA Western Conference semifinals, 111-96. Pau Gasol led the Lakers with 33 points and 14 rebounds. Kobe Bryant scored 32 points as the reigning NBA champs roll on to the Western Conference finals where the Phoenix Suns await the Lakers in the next round of the playoffs.
The Dodgers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 7-3, scoring three runs in the top of the ninth inning. James Loney, Casey Blake and Blake DeWitt each had RBI singles in the ninth-inning rally.
The two teams meet again tonight in the second game of their three-game series in Arizona. John Ely is back up with the big club and will get the start for the Dodgers. The Diamondbacks counter with ace Dan Haren. Pregame starts at 6 on AM 1220, KHTS.
