West Ranch Football Team Seeks 4-0 Start

khts_sportsThe West Ranch football team will look to run its record to 4-0 against Silverado tonight at Valencia High School.

West Ranch is coming off a 35-0 win over Eastside. Silverado is 0-3 and lost to Carter of Rialto, 14-2, last week.

The Valencia football team travels to the Antelope Valley to take on Palmdale. The Vikings lost to Chaminade, 14-10, last week. Palmdale shut out Kennedy of Granada Hills, 34-0, to win its first game of the season.

The Canyon football team is home against Camarillo. The Cowboys are coming off a 56-7 win over Knight. Camarillo lost to Righetti, 35-21.

In other games, Saugus is at Knight. Hart plays Arroyo at College of the Canyons and Golden Valley travels to play Channel Islands in Oxnard.

The Santa Clarita Christian football team plays Windward at Canyon High School on Saturday night.

The Trinity Classical Academy takes on North County Christian at West Ranch High School today at 4.

In college football, the College of the Canyons is home for a game against East L.A. College on Saturday night.

In high school cross country, there were no surprises at the first Foothill League meet at Central Park. Saugus won the girls race led by Karis Frankian and Golden Valley’s Kristian Martinez won the boys race.

In college cross country, John Gilbertson from The Master’s College was selected as the NAIA national runner of the week after his second-place performance in the UC Riverside Invitational.

The Master’s College men’s cross country team finished fifth in the meet.

The Angels saw their slim playoff hopes fade after losing to the Blue Jays in extra innings.

The Angels lost, 4-3, after Edwin Encarnarcion hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 12th inning. The Angels are in third place in the American League wild card standings, three games behind the Red Sox.
