The Fuentes sisters from West Ranch each advanced to the semifinals of the Foothill League tennis singles tournament at the Paseo Club in Valencia.
Ana Cecilia Fuentes will play Hart’s Anne Susdorf, the reigning singles champion in the Foothill League, in one semifinal match.
Ana Lucia Fuentes faces Rebecca Ho from Golden Valley in the other singles semifinal.
The Fraczek sisters, Clarice and Emily from Valencia High, advanced to the semifinals in the doubles portion of the Foothill League tournament. They will play Gabby Morici and Lena Poonopatam from West Ranch. West Ranch’s True O’Neill and Mallory Martin face Adrianna Zammit and Arianna Michaels in the other doubles semifinal.
In high school volleyball, the Santa Clarita Christian girls team lost to Pacifica Christian in four games. Natalie Keoshian had 12 kills and eight digs for Santa Clarita Christian.
The Foothill League regular season finales are today across the Santa Clarita Valley.
First-place Valencia is on the road against West Ranch, tied for second-place in league standings.
The Saugus girls, the other team tied for second in the Foothill League, are home against Golden Valley. Hart is on the road to play Canyon.
The Master’s College women’s volleyball team lost in three games to California Baptist, the fifth-ranked team in the NAIA.
Sam Dougherty had a team-high eight kills for The Master’s College. Leslie Windham had 11 digs. The Master’s College have lost six matches in a row.
Saugus pitcher Scott Kerrigan and Golden Valley pitcher Scott Glasnow have verbally committed to NCAA Division I schools, according to a report in The Signal.
Kerrigan, a 6-foot-6 senior, accepted a partial scholarship to the University of Notre Dame.
Glasnow, also a 6-foot-6 senior, is headed to the University of Portland.
In high school golf, the Hart girls are playing in the CIF Southern Section Team Finals at Western Hills Golf Course in Chino Hillls today.
The Lakers got a triple-double from Kobe Bryant and beat the Sacramento Kings, 112-100. It was the 17th career triple-double for Bryant. He scored 30 points, had 12 assists and 10 rebounds.
The Lakers won their fifth game in a row to start the season.
The Kings are home tonight for a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Kings haven’t played since Saturday night when they beat the New Jersey Devils, 3-1, at Staples Center.
The Lightning lost to the Anaheim Ducks, 3-2, last night.
Kings defenseman Drew Doughty is expected back on the ice after missing six games with concussion symptoms. He was cleared by doctors to practice yesterday.
