West Ranch Girls Volleyball Team Opens Season Against Rio Mesa

sportswestranchThe West Ranch girls volleyball team, ranked eighth in the CIF Southern Section Division 1A preseason poll, will open its volleyball season at home against Rio Mesa tonight. Led by senior outside hitter Allison Summers, who’s headed to the University of Georgia next fall, West Ranch enters as the preseason favorite to snap Valencia’s seven-year reign as Foothill League champs.

Valencia, meanwhile, opens at Dos Pueblos in Goleta today. Valencia has five returners, including Katie Hank, a University of Delaware-bound senior outside hitter.

Canyon will play Burbank today at Canyon High School.

In college soccer, The Master’s College women’s team is ranked 13th in the latest NAIA coaches top 25 poll. The Master’s College women have a 3-0-1 record and play San Diego Christian on Saturday. California Baptist University is ranked No. 1 in the NAIA poll.

In college volleyball, The Master’s College women’s team won its’ seventh match in a row, downing Cal Lutheran in five games last night. Caitlyn Ramirez had 18 kills to lead The Master’s College women to their eighth win.
