West Ranch Golf Team Squeaks Out Win Over Oak Park

khts_sportsThe West Ranch boys golf team beat Oak Park by three strokes in a match at the River Ridge Victoria Lakes Golf Course in Oxnard.

Joey Downey shot a 9-over 73 for West Ranch. The Wildcats shot 391 as a team. The match was called after 16 holes because of darkness.

The Hart boys golf team lost to Oaks Christian by eight strokes in a match at Rustic Canyon in Moorpark.

Three more golf teams from the Santa Clarita Valley are in action today.

The Canyon and Valencia boys golf teams are scheduled to play a match at Robinson Ranch Golf Course in Canyon Country.

The Trinity boys golf team is in the Ontario Christian High School tournament that begins today at El Prado Golf Course in Chino.

In high school volleyball, the Valencia boys lost in five games to Thousand Oaks in a match of CIF Southern Section top 10 teams.

Valencia, ranked No. 4 in the Southern Section Division 2 poll, won the first two games of the match, but dropped the next three.

Thousand Oaks, the No. 7 team in the Southern Section Division 1 poll, won its first match of the season.

Valencia’s Eric Ensing had 23 kills.

Three boys volleyball teams from the Foothill League are in action tonight.

The Golden Valley boys are home for a match against Quartz Hill.

The Hart boys are on the road against Camarillo and the Canyon boys travel to play Lancaster.

In college basketball, The Master’s College women lost to Westmont College in the first round of the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament, 70-53.

Westmont will play Biola in the semifinals of the conference tournament on Friday.

In high school baseball, Valencia and West Ranch are in the semifinals of the Easton Tournament.

The Vikings are home for a game against Alemany.

The Wildcats get a much tougher test against visiting Harvard-Westlake.

Hart is in the Stealth Division of the Easton Tournament and is home against Dos Pueblos.
